In a recent opinion pertaining to two cases Bankruptcy Judge Thomas M. Lynch of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court of the Northern District of Illinois, Western Division, walked through the mechanics and effects of the Illinois eviction process and the impact of debtors filing for Chapter 13 protection under the U.S. Bankruptcy Code which effectively allowed them to pay off their judgment amounts over 3-5 years as well as nullifying the possession orders entered in the state court proceedings.
